Abstract

Pain syndromes are among the most widespread of pathological states in clinical practice. They often lead to severe suffering, disability and thus lead to significant economic losses and decrease in quality of life. This is why the problem of treatment and pain management is one of the most relevant in modern medicine.

The aim of the study is presentation of modern viewpoints on non-opioid analgesics action mechanisms and pharmacotherapeutic potential of their use. Question of advantages and disadvantages of modern strategies in development of analgesics was also reviewed.

Among the modern methods of pain relieving, one of the central places belongs to pharmacotherapy with non-narcotic analgesics. Non-narcotic analgesics, currently used in clinical practice, satisfy only cer- tain safety and efficiency requirements for analgesics. Individual reaction of patients to pain and pain relief is variable, which is why it’s important to determine what analgesic is acceptable for each specific patient or type of pain. Understanding of complex biologic mechanisms that lay in processing of nociceptive infor- mation reveal an important path to development of new, more effective and safe drugs for pain syndromes pharmacotherapy.

Despite a large number of studies and certain progress in understanding the mechanism of non-opioid analgesics action, the problem of treatment and pain management is still far from being solved. This is especially true for pharmacotherapy of long-term chronic pain. Therefore, the development of powerful non-opioid analgesics that act on new targets in different parts of the central nervous system remains relevant.
